macOS Color Palettes

A quick note how to create, find and backup custom color palettes on macOS.

You all probably have seen this window on macOS already.

The system’s color picker offers a variety to define and chose colors. One of the nifty parts are the color palletes. The button with the ellipsis enables users to create their own. I think it is mostly useful at work when the company has well defined brand colors and you want to use them from time to time.

Unfortunately, at the time of writing on macOS Sonoma, custom color palettes are not synchronized through iCloud. They are located in ~/Library/Colors. That has to be taken care of with a home made solution. In my case and on my working Mac it is simple: I turned the directory into a Git repository and push it into our corporate GitLab.
